LEN COLODNY joins S.T. Patrick to discuss the recent CNN comparisons of Donald Trump to Richard Nixon. CNN has used Washington Post writers Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, who are best known for their two books on Watergate. Colodny, the author of Silent Coup: The Removal of a President, spends time discussing the validity of the comparison, the media’s desire to make the comparison, the continued use of John Dean as an “expert,” the real Alexander Haig, Ray Locker’s upcoming work Haig’s Coup, the goal of the military spy ring that targeted Nixon, Colodny’s personal path to Watergate truth, H.R. Haldeman’s view that Nixon was referring to the JFK assassination when he discussed the Bay of Pigs, the role and identity of Deep Throat, and much more.
Len Colodny’s Silent Coup can be purchased on Amazon.com. His wonderful site Watergate.com can and should be visited often. For an amazing explanation of the Secret Government and Military Spy Ring that caused the removal of Richard Nixon from the White House, listen to Len on episode 003 of the Midnight Writer News Show.

This is a fascinating interview, and I am really looking forward to reading Ray Locker’s ‘Haig’s Coup’ (as well as Silent Coup, a copy of which I ordered today).
But what I don’t understand is why Woodward and Bernstein would devise Deep Throat, and play out that narrative for 30-odd years, including the eventual revelation of Felt’s identity, when it was apparently *Haig* who was the behind-the-scenes mastermind of the whole ‘Watergate” scandal.
In particular — what would motivate Woodward and Bernstein to essentially spend their lives covering up the real story of Haig’s coup beneath the elaborate myth (?) of Watergate and Deep Throat and Mark Felt?
Why would they be so driven to protect Haig? If Deep Throat was Haig, or some composite of Haig, Felt and possibly others, why not reveal that when Haig died in 2010? Why would Woodward apparently want to go to his grave protecting the late Haig? I don’t get it. Is Woodward afraid of something, or someone, even at this late date? It’s hard to believe – or even conceive how – he could be. It doesn’t add up for me.
That said, again, I am looking forward to the Locker book, and was pleased to discover this website, along with Mr. Colodny’s Watergate website.

Thanks! Many of the questions will be answered by reading Silent Coup. But I would also suggest episode 003 with Len Colodny, as well as the episodes with Ray Locker and Phil Stanford. We view the show as a textbook or a huge puzzle. There are many more shows to do. Hopefully they will also add puzzle pieces. Watergate is one of our favorite topics, so stay tuned. Thanks!
