I have no issues about LBJ’s ultimate level of authority and control in the JFK assassination, but I do know that the Secret Service (under LBJ’s authority) seized much evidence, including the absolutely most important evidence, Kennedy’s body. Then the Secret Service, under whatever exact mandate they had, destroyed and altered much of that evidence. Then LBJ created the coverup commission and, as president, kept things under wraps. I don’t believe there’s any way to say that LBJ was just a peripheral player – his hands are all over everything in this case.

Not peripheral, but not dominant either. Was it even his idea to create the Warren Commission? He initially resisted it. But the real problem is Chicago.
